Twentyfive years and counting…….
On 3rd August 1987, Mike Gower was sworn in as a member of Newport Pagnell and Olney Lions Club. During the next twenty two years, he held various offices within the club, including President three times and Zone Chairman once.In 2003 he moved from Newport Pagnell to Stony Stratford and as a consequence of this change of location decided to transfer to a club closer to his new home.
Mike had been closely involved with the Formation of the Lions Club of Milton Keynes Central and while he was serving as Zone chairman had got to know the club and its members well. He was impressed with the youth and enthusiasm of the members, and decided to continue his career in Lions as a member of this new club.
Since joining LCMKC Mike has been an active member of the club, and has served in the capacity of Membership Secretary, Welfare Officer and Social Secretary, as well as holding the Position of District Lion Tamer for several years, and last year serving another term as Zone Chairman.
On 3rd August 2012 mike completed 25 years service with Lions International, and celebrated the occasion with a Garden Party at his home in Stony Stratford in the company of many Lions friends from the last 25 years.
As a memento of the occasion LCMKC presented Mike with a 25 year service pin, a certificate, a bottle of vintage Champagne, and a pair of cut crystal champagne flutes and Mike presented the club with a Lion Mascot called “Milton” who will attend all future club events and Meetings.
The members of the Lions Club of Milton Keynes Central would like to thank Mike on behalf of Lions Cubs International for his years of service and to wish him many more years of happy Lionism with LCMKC.
